What will be happening with the EyeDerby design judging?
Right now, we're still processing more thn 200 photos that were taken at the event. There's more editing involved than we have volunteers for, so it's going to take several days. Keep checking in and navigate to the EyeDerby page under Events to see what's happening.
I went to MegaDerby and ran my car. How do I get the race results?
Just go to the Race Results button on the Local Links Tab to the right, and you can find out all you want to know. You can even download a spreadsheet with all the race data.
I'm getting some kind of server error response screen telling me I can't leave the car description field empty. What's up?
Actually, this has come up a number of times. While we're working on it, make sure that you enter something, even if it's just blanks or spaces, in every field on the form. This will prevent this error.
Are you ever going to get registration open?
We were beginning to ask the same question ourselves, but it looks like we're pretty much set for launch this evening (April 1, Tuesday). Should be up and running by 8am April 2. If you have any problems, please let us know (the first ones registering get to be our Beta guinea pigs) so we can get right to fixing things. So far, all our local testing has come up OK on the main points. While we've still got other work to do, the main things should be functional shortly. Email us at webmaster@megaderby
300 Cars! But won't that take forever?
At MegaDerby5, long lines and waiting around all day for dozens of heats to run 4 times each are history. The combination of online pre-registration and our "Texas Roll Down™" time trials approach makes it possible. Once your car has been checked in and inspected, it should take no more than 20 minutes to get your car back. You're then free to run it on some of the other events, or go off and enjoy the other great exhibits at Scout Fair. Once you have your official time, that's all that's really needed. Our continuous data logging software and displays will post current standings and keep them updated throughout the day. You can come back anytime to see how your scores are holding up.
I like Match racing. Will that be possible?
That's what the King of the Hill event is specially designed for. You can Match race all you want there. Overall winnings and ranking by speed are still controlled by the Texas Roll Down time trials event.
When can we register?
Online registration will open on March 30th (or very shortly thereafter). We're scrambling to add this functionality to our site but for now, at least, it looks like we'll be able to make the March 26th deadline.
When does check-in begin?
Check-in will start for the first group at 11:15am. When you receive your registration confirmation with your registration number and sticker formatsl, you will see a check-in schedule to use as a guide to know when to show up to check in. Check-in will generally proceed in registration number order. (Note: Cars registered to run in the DeathWood derby will be given the earliest times so that enough cars will be on hand at the beginning of things to coordinate challenge runs and survivor heats.)We'll be assigning entrants to different 45- minute check-in groups so that we can even things out as much as possible in the check-in line.
Do I have to build a new car?
Not unless you want to. Most scouts will be using the cars they built for their Pack level races this year. A few will probably modify their cars to shave off those last few milliseconds.
Where can I find the construction rules?
Just navigate to the "Rules" page on this site (you'll find the link in the button bar at the top) and you should be able to find all the info you need.
. . . . more coming!
(keep sending us your questions and check back often)
