There's no other event like it . . .

Precision tracking is the key.

This is a Sam Houston Area Exclusive. Do you know how hard it is to make a car go straight with nails for axles and cheap plastic for wheels? Hard enough that you can count on us to make an event out of it.

No guides, just a gentle slope with Gold at the end.

Picture a ramp 4 feet wide with low bumper rails at the sides. There's a gentle slope that drops a little over a foot in the 22 feet from start to finish. You line up your car with the short guide strip at center of the the high end of the ramp. You let the car go. It rolls away and slowly picks up speed down the incline. If it's like most other cars, it will begin to veer off toward one side or the other long before it gets to the end. Every car seems to have a mind of its own as it goes down the hill. Some start in one direction and then head back in the other before contacting a bumper rail. Some don't even make it all the way down. But if it's very special, it will track straight and true all the way down to the Golden Gate mark dead center at the bottom. This almost never happens.

Wherever your car touches the side rails or crosses the finish line, side judges mark the distance. The distance gets logged and ranked. The highest scores win.

So simple it's hard.

The bottom line is that there are more than a few ways to win at SHAC's MegaDerby™.
